Let customers speak for us
from 355 reviewsThese fit in my military issue mukluks. I can’ afford Steiger mukluks but with these wool liners, my feet stay warm in $40 Army surplus mukluks.
I'm going to write a slightly more in-depth description of my experience with my mukluks. I ordered the Yukon mukluks from Steger via their online store as an international customer, all the way from Finland. I was on the market for a winter boot that is suitable for extreme cold, and I felt that the mukluk design was all-around best choice for my needs.
Ordering from the online store was very straightforward and easy, no issues there. What was a bit problematic was the size conversion from American to European system - several internet conversion charts gave me somewhat conflicting information on the formula, with some sites claiming that US mens 12 size equals European mens 45 size, whereas some sites claimed that 11½ equaled 45 (my shoe size with the European sizing system falls somewhere in the 44½ - 45 region - male customer with a relatively large foot and a wide instep here!). Since exchanging the boots is not a simple task for international customers, there was a little bit of concern about overestimating the size. I ended up taking a size 12 wide boot just in case, with the idea that the boot would also accommodate two pairs of thick socks if necessary. Skipping ahead a bit, the sizing ended up being just a little bit too large, a little roomy with just one sock, but fine with two socks. So in hindsight I probably should have picked size 11½ wide and that probably would have been perfect - maybe this will be of some advice to someone, somewhere, someday...
The delivery also worked without any issues. I picked the slightly more expensive/faster UPS delivery but it ended up getting delivered via USPS anyway, maybe this is the case for all international orders? The delivery was quite fast too - or it would have been, had the customs not picked up the package and ordered me to properly declare it. Customs declaration in Finland fortunately also succeeded with simply filling out an online form and paying the toll, but unfortunately the tariff was rather hefty. The boots themself cost roughly 240 USD/EUR without shipping (almost the same amount on both currencies on current exchange rates) which I consider a fair price for this type of product, but the tariff slapped another 160 euros on top of that. I suppose this was something to be expected, but nevertheless let this be another word of note for international customers.
Finally, the boots arrived via local mail system a couple days ago and have been in use for a couple days, currently testing has been done in relatively mild weather (at maximum -10 degrees Celsius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit) and I can say that the boots are positively toasty at these conditions, even with just one pair of socks, and probably even unnecessarily warm for this weather. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to test these at more intensive cold weather during this winter, but so far the boots have felt like exactly what I hoped them to be, and despite being just a little bit too large, the boot itself, the shape and the fit feel very comfortable. All in all, an excellent boot with practically no complaints, though the rubber sole is rather slippery on icy surfaces and you'll probably need some extra traction if you're going to use these boots on such environments. Thank you for a very nice pair of winter boots! :)
Followed the foot measurement chart and my boots fit perfectly and are super comfortable and keep my feet toasty. Been in the single digits this week and I am amazed at how warm they keep my feet
These mukluks are absolutely stunning!
I have these and the Steger Arctic mukluks. Now I have a pair for cold weather and a pair for everyday wear.
They're super comfortable and so warm! Love Steger Mukluks! And I highly recommend them!
These boots are the comfiest and lightest boots I have ever worn and I will gladly wear these in the harsh winters of Alaska!
I've spent years and countless dollars in my quest to find truly warm winter boots that would keep my feet warm for hours while watching ski races. A few weeks ago, a friend was wearing them at US National XC Ski Champs in Alaska, so I quizzed her. She raved, so I ordered them. It's been between 0 and -15 the past few days, and these have kept my feet warm. Not just "not freezing and uncomfortable," but WARM. I am a believer. Not only are they warmer than Sorel Caribous and Baffin Chloes, but they weigh a fraction of those, making it easy to walk and run around in the snow effortlessly. Thank you Steger!
These are so warm and comfortable!!! Highly recommend! I live in Alaska and these are perfect.
Absolutely love these boots. This is my second pair. My first lasted over ten years!
Wife loves them. Her first pair wore out after 10 years or so. Great for cold dry weather. Very popular here in Fairbanks, Alaska.
I love my boots. I have problems with two toes that had frostbite. Warm and comfort aer extremely important. These boots check all of the boxes plus they are super cute!
