Steger Designs, Inc, dba Steger Mukluks, is located in Ely, Minnesota, where we manufacture all of our footwear. We sell Steger Mukluks Globally from our website mukluks.com. Steger Mukluks are Made In The USA!! 

Our Mukluks are twice as warm and less than half the weight of traditional winter boots!  They have durable, flexible, treaded rubber soles and the finest full-grain leathers available. With each pair you receive the best wool felt liners and insoles we can provide. Your mukluks will remain supple and flexible through the years.  Flexibility, breathability and insulation are the keys to warm feet. One pound of weight on your foot is equal to 5 lbs. on your lower back. Heavier does not mean warmer, it means aching legs and back.

In 1985, I began making footwear in my home for people who would provide leather. Step by step the company has grown, mainly by word of mouth. Now 39 years later, we are producing 12,500 pairs of our famous footwear from our factory in Ely every year.

Our boots have been worn on many expeditions from the North Pole to the South Pole, across Greenland and on the Iditarod Race Trail in Alaska. We are sponsors for World Famous Will Steger Expeditions and Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Cross Country Skier, Jessie Diggins. Tune in to “Life Below Zero” on the National Geographic Channel where Susan Aikens proudly wears her Steger Mukluks.  We made boots for cast members of the Disney movies ‘Antarctica’ and Snow Buddies’. They have also appeared in the movie about Will Steger’s Life, ‘After Antarctica’. We made Mukluks for the movies ‘Iron Will’ and ‘Grumpy Old Men’. They were regularly seen on an old favorite, ‘Northern Exposure’. They appeared in fashion shoots by Elle and Mademoiselle Magazines. We've been featured in a number of major newspapers across the country and been reviewed by some of the toughest outdoor magazine writers in the country with glowing results.
